The supplement world is like the wild west out there. What should you take? What’s worth the money? What companies can you trust?
Today I wanted to give you a list of supplements I think are worth the money and ones my family and I use regularly to support optimal hormone production and fertility!
Please note, this is for informational purposes only and not medical advice—speak with your doctor or medical professional before making changes!
Supplements to Support Hormones & Fertility
Organ Meats
You can think of these as nature’s multivitamin! They are a nutrient powerhouse packed with B vitamins, iron, copper, zinc, and vitamin A. If you’re like me and can’t stomach eating them, the desiccated pill version is a nice alternative.
- Desiccated beef liver
- Desiccated organ meats
Minerals
I love adding in additional mineral drinks to meet my daily needs. Out of all that I have tried, these are my favorites!
- Coconut water — can find at most grocery stores; high in potassium
- Pickleball — higher in potassium
- Adrenal Cocktail — contains whole-food vitamin C and is higher in sodium
- LMNT — higher in sodium
- Iodine — crucial for thyroid function; this is something that needs labs done first before supplementation
Cod Liver Oil
Contains vitamin A, vitamin D, and omega-3 fatty acids. It also helps support how your body uses iron.
Magnesium
There are so many forms of magnesium, but my favorites are glycinate and topical forms. They are pretty well tolerated by most people.
GI Health
I like to support my digestive system with a mix of bitters to help stimulate stomach acid production and bile flow, fiber for prebiotics, and a good spore-based probiotic.
- Psyllium husk fiber
- Megasporbiotic
- Digestive bitters — Urban Moonshine is my favorite! Only the calm tummy bitters are pregnancy safe.
Prenatals
Unfortunately, there are a lot of crappy prenatals out there. I’ll dive into this as its own post, but for now, note that the ones listed below are the ones I recommend to clients. I know they cost a bit more, but quality does matter!
- Needed — found on Fullscript
- FullWell
Whole-Food Vitamin C
If you need a little vitamin C boost, be sure to use a whole-food form, not ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid can interfere with copper, whereas whole-food vitamin C supports the absorption of copper.
- Pure Synergy
- Camu Camu powder
Pearl Powder
My go-to source for a whole-food form of calcium. This form will contain additional supportive vitamins and minerals.
- Cultivate Elevate
- Crucial Four
I could probably make this list even longer, but I wanted to provide some of my most used and recommended supplements.
If you’re looking for more information on brands I love and want a 15% discount on supplements, you can find all that under my supplement dispensary — Fullscript.
